Lunchtime talk with Dr. Federico Fabbrini

On 3 December 2018, Dr. Federico Fabbrini, Full Professor of European Law at the School of Law & Government of Dublin City University (DCU), where he is also the founding director of the DCU Brexit Institute, gave a lunchtime talk entitled “Brexit, the Future of EU-UK Relations and the Future of Europe”. In his talk, Dr. Fabbrini initiated a discussion by offering historical perspective on Brexit. In light of that, he proceeded to discuss recent developments in the EU-UK negotiations, in particular the Withdrawal Agreement of 14th and 22nd of November 2018, alongside highlighting some remaining challenges, in particular regarding the Northern Irish border. Finally, Dr. Fabbrini reflected on the future of EU-UK Relations and the future of European integration. His talk was followed by an engaging discussion.

Judicial Visit to the Principality of Liechtenstein

2018

On 2 and 3 October, the Judges paid a visit to the Principality of Liechtenstein. During the visit, the Judges met with Prime Minister Adrian Hasler as well the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Justice and Culture Aurelia Frick. In addition, there was an exchange of views with the Presidents of the Liechtenstein national courts. The visit was complemented by a visit to an industrial company, to the National Museum as well as to the University of Liechtenstein.

Former EFTA Court President Carl Baudenbacher has been made Commander of the Order of Merit of the Principality of Liechtenstein with Star

On 11 September 2018, H.S.H. the Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein received former EFTA Court President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Carl Baudenbacher at Vaduz Castle on behalf of H.S.H. Prince Hans-Adam II. There, Hereditary Prince Alois bestowed him with the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Princely Liechtenstein Order of Merit for his for his special services to the Land of Liechtenstein.

Consultation, the EFTA Court’s Rules of Procedure

2018

In light of the revision of the European Union General Court’s Rules of Procedure in 2016, the EFTA Court has decided to revise its Rules of Procedure, so as to accommodate certain changes and update the existing provisions, as pertinent, pursuant to Article 43(2) of the Agreement between the EFTA States on the Establishment of a Surveillance Authority and a Court of Justice.

The EFTA Court has determined that the revision process shall be open to consultation.
